Let it wash over you
Just let it tumble across you
Like the water never impeding the fish
Who swims effortlessly through the waters of life
Let it coarse through your veins
But don’t let it twist and corrode you
Don’t let life transform your heart
Into gnarled, impenetrable knots
Like a petrified branch
Let it simply run its course
Washing you clean with each new day
Each new experience
Whether love or loss
Usually, of course it is both
Just let it wash over you
This thing called life
Turn your face to the wind and the rain
Let the sun penetrate your knots
Releasing their hold
And setting you free
To be here and now
In the waters of life.
